How To Root Verizon Galaxy S4 i545

    Shortly after Verizon released the Samsung Galaxy S4, developers managed to root it. If you root your Verizon Galaxy S4 you will be able to do much more with your device, like installing apps that require root access, perform better backups, install mods and custom ROMs.

    You should know that rooting can be dangerous if you don’t pay attention to this guide, though if you are careful nothing is going to happen to your Galaxy S4.

    Also Please note that this guide will only work for the Verizon Galaxy S4 and you may not install the kernel on any other device or variant.

    Before flashing anything on your device you should perform a backup.

    Root Verizon Galaxy S4 i545 on Android 4.2.2

    First you will have to download the rooting files: Odin 3.07 and VRUAMDK stock kernel.

    Now turn off your device and boot in download mode by pressing the Volume down, Home and Power buttons simultaneously. You will then see a warning screen and you will have to press Volume Up in order to enter download mode.

    Once your device is in download mode, open Odin on your PC and connect the Galaxy S4 to the computer through the USB cable. You will see that “Added” will appear in Odin. This means that your Galaxy S4 is connected to the PC.

    Click the PDA button in Odin and find the SCH-I545_MD2_423399_Kernel.tar.md5 file. After that just press start and wait for Odin to flash the kernel on your device.

    After Odin completes the flash your Verizon Galaxy S4 will be rooted.

    Now that you have root access you can do basically everything you want with your smartphone.
