Samsung Galaxy S4 vs. iPhone 4S

Galaxy S4 vs iPhone 4S

According to The Korean Times, the oldest English-language newspaper in South Korea, the Samsung Galaxy S4 will come out in February 2013, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The new Galaxy S series smartphone is supposed to be released in March 2013, which is actually a bit difficult if we take a moment and think that the Samsung Galaxy S3 needed about 2 months to be available all over the world.

The iPhone 4S was launched when everyone was expecting the iPhone 5. The guys at Apple decided that it would be a better idea to improve (at first), the iPhone 4, and only after that to launch the very new iPhone 5, and so they did! In October 2011, the iPhone 4S was being both launched and released, while the Apple fans needed to wait another year, until September 2012 to get the new iPhone 5.

It is known the fact that Android-running devices have been outselling the iPhones for a while now and it is also known that it will be very hard for us to compare this great devices because of the great hardware specs they have.

Regarding the price, the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be available in March 2013 (again, according to The Korea Times) and it will have a price tag of $629.95. The iPhone 4S is available at this moment, with no contract, for only $549, now, after the iPhone 5 went out. It seems a bit too much for us if we take a second and think that the iPhone 5 was already released, and that we’re talking about the 16 GB version…

Rumors say that the design of the new Samsung Galaxy S4 will probably be similar to the Samsung Galaxy S3. Probably, the edges will be much smaller, which will allow a wider screen, but the size of the phone will stay the same. The new Samsung Galaxy S4 will be available in 5 different colors: black, white, blue, red and gray, which is actually a great ideea, and it’s possible for it not to feature a physical button anymore (of course, except for the sided one).

If we take a look at the iPhone 4S we’ll see that they came with absolutely nothing new since the iPhone 4. The size of the smartphone has stayed the same, the design is the same old, same old, and so on. But, one old rule said that you shouldn’t try to fix something which is not broken, so Apple took the right call, as the iPhone 4 was a huge success for the American manufacturer. The design of the iPhone 4S looks classy, elegant, and it’s perfectly suitable for business mans and so on being available only on two colors: black and white.

The new display used for the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be of 5.0 inch (with 0.2 wider than the Samsung Galaxy S3’s) and it will feature a 1080 x 1920 FULL HD resolution. The technology used for this display is the Pentile Super AMOLED, the same used for the Samsung Galaxy Note, and Samsung Galaxy Note II. The screen features 440 PPI, and it’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2, just like the Samsung Galaxy Note II.

The iPhone 4S features one LED-backlit IPS TFT capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors. The resolution provided by this type of screen is 640 x 960 pixels, while the display is only 3.5 inch wide. It also features 330 PPI, and it’s also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.

When it comes to the hardware, we must say that Samsung discovered the recipe of the success since the Samsung Galaxy S2. They reached success with new design, improved hardware, and user-friendly software… They decided to build the Samsung Galaxy S3 in the same idea, and the device was sold in over 20 million units until this very moment! The Samsung Galaxy S4 was built in the same way, and here’s a few hardware specs regarding the Samsung Galaxy S4.

First of all, the new Galaxy S series smartphone features one 2 GHz Quad-Core Cortex A15 processor, 2 GB of RAM memory, and world-wide available LTE connection, just like the Samsung Galaxy Note II. When talking about the graphics card, the guys at Samsung decided to go with the recently announced Octo-core Mali T678 GPU. The Samsung Galaxy S4 will be available in four different versions, with 16, 32 and 64 GB of internal memory. The device will feature the nano-SIM technology, while the rear-faced camera on this device will have around 13 MP.

Returning to Apple’s iPhone 4S, this one comes with a 1 GHz Dual-Core Cortex A9 processor, 512 MB of RAM memory, and the PowerVR SGX543MP2 graphics card. The smartphone is also available in 3 different versions, of 16, 32, and 64 GB internal memory. The camera used for this device features only 8 MP instead of the 13 used on Samsung Galaxy S4.

Even though the Samsung Galaxy S4 was rumored to come out with Android 4.1 JellyBean (just like the Samsung Galaxy S3 did with the Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich), it seems like the smartphone will feature the last version of Android, the Android 4.2 Key Lime Pie. This new version of Android comes with a bunch of new features, like Customization Center, Templates and so on. Let’s take a second and talk a bit about them!

The Customization Center will basically allow the users to perform a variety of tasks like setting up different wallpapers and possibly different ringtones. It will also feature an option to enable or disable the OEM UI overlays like Samsung’s TouchWiz and HTC’s Sense. Users began complaining since the manufacturers decided to develop this features at first.

The Templates will allow users to change the layout and appearance of their UI elements and apply all kind of filters, Instagram-like effects to their UI.

Again, the new Android 4.2 Key Lime Pie will come with improved battery life, a whole new personalized experience of Google Play, the AOSP video player and so on. Unfortunately, these ones are yet to be confirmed, so we’ll have to wait until the end of this month to find out if the rumors are true or not.

As you mall all know already, the iPhone uses the iOS. The iPhone 4S will come with iOS 5.0 but it is upgradable to iOS 6.0. However, most of the users have complained regarding this new version of iOS, so things are not that bright for the future of Apple.

Due to the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S4 is not yet launched, and that the difference of price is not quite significant, we would definitely go with the Samsung Galaxy S4. I mean, it’s better at every single chapter we reviewed, and it’s all we ever wanted.

But, your opinion is like really important to us, so we would love if you would comment in the comment section down below with your option. We are really curious to find out if you would go for Apple’s iPhone 4S of the Samsung Galaxy S4.
